Kakamega Water Company Reviews water pricing

A pricing agreement has been reached between the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company (KACWASCO) and other county stakeholders on water supplied by the company.
This is to ensure enhanced water supply to the community as well as promoting better service provision of the valuable commodity. The approvals happened at a public participation event presided over by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya. “You must take advantage of the evaluation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of water services,” Oparanya stated at the Bishop Stam Pastoral Center meeting.
The event that was presided over by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) was attended by representatives from various consumer groups, national and county government authorities, the water company’s board of directors, and management.
The Kakamega Governor further recommended that the corporation embrace technology in its procedures such as digital and automatic meter reading, solarization, and automated financial management systems.

He stated that safe water is an essential commodity that should be made affordable to users, and that other players in the water sector should band together to work on subsidizing water service provision to avoid burdening consumers with the various taxes and rates charged by the various water sector players.
KACWASCO departmental managers gave presentations on the company’s accomplishments in enhancing water and sanitation services, detailing important achievements and problems over the years that led to the need for a tariff review.
